Our archaeological team are just under half way through their excavation work and have so far found evidence of Roman age field systems, enclosure ditches, pottery and some smithing waste.
The work follows the geophysical survey earlier in the year that highlighted a number of unidentifiable features in the ground which we are now investigating.
The smithing waste, or iron slag, is possibly from an old forge.
We'll provide a full update and analysis once the work is complete.
