Sinnott House green link planning application submitted

Homes England has today submitted an outline planning application to create a new pedestrian link and green corridor at the former police station site (Sinnott House) on Broomhill Road. The application also includes landscaping and related construction details.

The minor application follows the demolition of Sinnott House last year to make way for the access route to the future homes, but also addresses the potential development risk of a Town or Village Green application being made on the land to the rear of the former police station.

Whilst Brislington Meadows was allocated in the 2014 Local Plan (which offers legal protection against a Town and Village Green claim being made), the land behind Sinnott House was not, and the local plan hasn't been updated since to reflect its inclusion as part of the development site.

We would stress that this application is not about the wider housing proposals and will change very little. There are no immediate plans to undertake the works, as they are likely to be undertaken by a developer as part of the wider redevelopment scheme but outline planning permission for this pedestrian link and green corridor is being sought now.

We're making progress on the masterplan for Brislington Meadows and we expect the consultation on this to start later in the Spring. We intend on submitting the outline planning application for the development later this year.
